Pitmen supporter and HTFCSA committee member Paul Woodhead plays a big part in promoting the club throughout the community. He is also involved in various local groups, organisations and associations that would affect a number of supporters. Here, in a recurring article for the programme, he brings us up-to-date with news from around the area.

As part of a series of features to raise awareness of groups working in our community, we look at the Staffordshire Heritage Group

Local History, Genealogy and Archaeology Groups across Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Heritage Group (SHG) is an umbrella organisation for all the local history, genealogy and archaeology groups within Staffordshire, which meets four times a year at the Civic Offices in Stafford.

SHG promote, maintain and encourage good practice, research, preservation of records and collaboration with other interested bodies in connection with local history, genealogy and archaeology.

Staffordshire really stands out in history, from its Stone Age origins, through Roman and medieval times to modern industrial life. We have towns and villages with churches, castles and stately homes reflecting the unique identity of our area.

Groups or Societies can join the Staffordshire Heritage Group, with membership costing just £5 per annum, and this enables your group to enter their diary dates on the SHG calendar.
